I have just bought an STM Evo Clutch off the kind Mr @duke41 (cheers!). I have all the tools already for locking a ‘normal” 6 spring 48t clutch hub/basket but I see this won’t work with the Evo hub. Anybody got an STM UTL-0020 90mm spring locking tool lying about that they want to sell? Or is there a similar tool that can be used? cheers, R
i have the earlier version of this holding tool that im happy to lend you, but postage may be prohibitive (£35ish round trip). i have the stm 48 tooth basket tool also. fwiw you can get a cheap tool to hold the 48 tooth basket but the main drum is a tougher proposition. it can done with the inverted mole grip type universal clutch holding tools and a rattle gun to remove the nut, but slip and you will mark the anodized pressure top plate
Thanks for the offer but I think I have a cheap solution... I already have a 48t tool so am ok for the basket. I have got a lovely old clutch hub off @duke41 (thanks, it arrived today) which I will cut the posts off. I can then drill 6 holes at the correct spacing in the top of the hub and fit 6 6mm bolts in it to align with the slots in the Evo pressure plate. The bastard hub tool then fits in my standard clutch tool and, hey presto, I can torque the nut as normal! This will all be done with a hacksaw and standard diy drill etc. Well...that’s the plan!
