Out on the 1996 916 and went to indicate but the unit moved, vibrations probably cause the screws to come lose! So straightened it up which has caused a new issue . Every time I use the indicator selector it triggers the horn when pressing it. Any tips or suggestions, anyone come across this?
I hate to sound cynical, and it's only a longshot, but i wonder if somebody has been in there repairing it already as assuming that tightening the screws hasn't cured anything (which it should have done). I remember repairing a few over the years, so hopefully a careful strip down/reassembly might be all that's needed alternatively it's looking for a replacement which of course goes without saying.
I took apart a 2002 LH switch gear. It is close to a box of springs in there, very very tight too. May be worth a look inside for a lose wire or slipped contact plate. Try to disconect and do it on a bench
