Strange Misfire.

  1. Went to Cadwell Tuesday and had a strange misfire appear from no where.
It only seemed to happen when the bike was under load say accelerating out of a corner or flat out on a straight. When it missed it was only just the once and towards the end of the session best way to describe it is as if you just switched off the ignition and back on again very quickly.
Bike started fine and ticked over fine and also blipping throttle no problem.
Bike is a hybrid but spec is 999s motor in 748 frame.
Also not sure if related i noticed the temp gauge was bouncing around at about 80c mark which I haven't noticed before.
Motor is due some refresh work this year so fault maybe picked up then but just asking if anyone has any ideas before it goes for this.
    Thanks
    Mark.

  2. while it sounds ignitiony i have been getting similar symptoms on my fugly, my valve shims are waaaaaaaaaay over due, 7or8k i think. it maybe the beginnings of this

  3. i've got the same problem with my multi 1000 trys to cut out at 80 oc & 90 oc if i catch it & blip the throttle everything carries on as normal, not sure if its a coil problem or the engine temp switch on the front cylinder ? i had a problem where it only ran on rear cylinder a while ago and after unplugging the front cylinder temp switch connector to check for corrosion then refitting it the bike ran on 2 .
not looked into it yet as its my daily ride & i've not had time & have learned to work around it.
