I'm sure this has been discussed here before and perhaps the answer will be obvious on this forum, but given you guys are riding the SF, and I've had several Tuono Factories (inc a 2018 now), what's the consensus between a new Tuono Factory v's a 2020 SF S? Assume the price is about the same, who would buy what second time round? I've seen various youtube commentary, but help with my 1st world problem would be appreciated.
I don't feel qualified to judge on the performance / handling, but a dealer offered me a brand new '21 Tuono Factory for £16K which is significantly less that a SF V4 S, and not much more than a SF V2 (though that's what I actually bought).
2020 SF V4s seem to be around the £20k mark. (eBay) New Tuono Factory £16500 (eBay) usually cheaper after October Spend the change on cocaine and hookers.
I test rode the SFV4S, the Tuono Factory, the KTM Super Duke and the new Speed Triple RS before I committed. I’m not a Ducati fanboy and I’m not mega rich but for me the SFV4S was worth digging deep for. A different level in my opinion. It’s a little thirsty and range is terrible but it makes me smile every time I open the garage door or take it for a spin. A beautiful machine
I was in the same boat, I didn't even test ride the Tuono, just looked at one and decided on the SF V4S. SF V4S has it all imo. It's an amazing bike.
Cheers guys, think I'm headed that way, just the shiny, brand new thing (Tuono) making me wonder. Under £16k delivered to Aberdeen, or I can pay a little more for a 2020 SF with 2k miles and a couple of Evotekch bits. The biggest issue is I can see neither in the blue toon, so working from pics and memory...not seen the new Tuono at all come to think of it. In Dubai this week but will likely make a call in next few days, once I've scoured a few more youtube videos. Not from US, they are just too "super awesome" for my liking.
Agree to all, although when I rode my mates last summer it is bloody difficult to stay above 120mph or so due to wind blast. Proper core or arm workout holding on although I appreciate we have more roads...sorry tracks in Scotland where such things are possible for more than 2-3 seconds. Think I know which way i'm going.
I am changing from an S1000R to a SF V4S on Saturday. The Beemer was starting to annoy me; suspension - difficult to setup, not much adjustment. Exhaust - tinny and with an annoying rattle at 4000 rpm. Audio sound track (burbles on the overrun) - tedious after the tenth hairpin on mountain passes. And lack of character. My first S1000R (mk1, Euro 4) was a hoot. The current one (mk2, Euro 5) less so.
The optional front screen, albeit it small, does help a bit with wind blast, but yes its can get hard to hold on at hyperspeed. A wise man once said to me 'a naked bike will keep you honest'. If I want to go out think I'm going to be going hyper speeds I uncover my 899 and take her out for a bit, but even that feels a bit of wind blast.
As I’m buying from a mate, unseen, difficult to say much more than, “hey you prick, she’d better be pristine like you said”. That aside, any known quality issues, recalls or things I should ask about? I do trust him, but he’s got a sizeable fleet so probably wouldn’t know much about the above.
Have a look at the sump; it’s prone to stone chips as it’s exposed. Fortunately I fitted a sump protector cover from new and pleased I did as it has took a bit of a battering. I got mine from Desmoworld Germany but I believe evotech Uk make a version now.
Thanks Carl556. Mate had it's 600 mile service - I expect in 2020 - but nothing since. I normally go for annual servicing on my bikes, even with the low miles some do. At 2,200 mile probably worth doing again right?
Mine was serviced at 646 miles last by previous owner, going in for service next week for approx 2250 miles.
I have a 66 plate tuono which I love. Everything about it is great then I seen the streetfighter and loved the looks. I'm lucky enough to have bought the streetfighter last June and have done nearly 6k miles already on it. I still have the tuono but I cant bring myself to not go on the streetfighter everytime I get the chance to ride. The streetfighter is similar to the tuono but when the tuono runs out of steam the ducati just keeps going for another few thousand revs. I know that the ducati is 4 years newer but it feels light years ahead to ride. IMO the streetfighter is like a works fettled tuono on steroids. Sadly im now going to sell the tuono to maybe get a multistrada for touring duties. Tuono = great bike Streetfighter = mind blowingly amazing bike... Just my opinion though...
***OFF TOPIC*** Due to the Ukraine war & Inflation, if hookers & cocaine of good quality are required; it will necessitate the purchase of a Vespa to remain within budget.
