Hi, Can anyone recommend a expert to set my 1198 for my ample poundage in the Devon or Cornwall area please. It's as set by the factory, but wondered if it was set up for, how do i say this, a more svelte Italian chap! Would it be worth it? I'm not intending to tinker myself as I'm not good enough to know what I'm doing! Thanks!
ian, peak performance on marsh barton in exeter did my R1 some 10 years back, bought it new and nearly sold it within 6 months as it was a complete animal, they k tech, ed the front forks, fitted an ohlins to rear and set it all up for my weight and fast road use, totally different bike after that, kept it 7 years, still miss it, the R1 had loads of power but you couldnt use it and i could no way go as fast on it as my old fireblade without it tank slapping etc, after peak had it and sorted it, was an awesome machine, just done a quick google and they are still there, beleive the guys called steve, might be worth a call but see what the other locals have to say, kev
It is worth it. I got my 848 set up by Colin from 100% suspension at a track day. they are set up pretty hard from the factory, but this can also vary from bike to bike. Mine was rock hard at the rear, and quite sort at the front so it was diving under hard braking, then under acceleration it felt like it was trying to pivot on the back wheel. Colin sorted it and its loads better now. I haven't ridden it on the road, but I've no doubt it'll be better. Try rich at lougi moto for a start. matt
