Not being very well versed in suspension settings (black art) I have always stayed away and left it to the pros. However, on attempting to adjust the rear for a pillion , it just kept turning and didn't 'click' like it says in the manual. Now I have no idea where the original setting was  Is there an easy way to put it back to standard setting ?
Not familiar with the PP suspension so don't know what you "turned". Is it manual Ohlins front and rear ? Andy
Yep Ohlins front and rear, the rear has a manual adjuster that has arrows printed on it for Hard and Soft. The adjusted turned easily both ways and didn't 'click' as stated in the manual. Beats me
Okay, I've downloaded the OM. You have compression and rebound adjustment under the seat and a pre load knob sticking out of the side of the shock, yes ? Is it this pre load knob you have adjusted ? Andy
Yep its the pre load on the spring , not touched rebound or compression. I guess I just have to wind in and out to extremities then find halfway ? Standard = 16mm, apparently (whatever that means)
Okay, that knob doesn't "click". IIRC one full revolution equates to 1 mm of pre load. Easy to confirm, turn the knob fully anti clockwise and then count the number of turns clockwise before it comes up hard. Should be 24. The table on page 313 of your OM suggests fully clockwise for rider + passenger. Standard (except Enduro) is 16mm which should equate to 16 turns clockwise from fully out (anti clockwise) which is your normal starting point. Andy
You my friend are a star and should write these manuals for English speakers , thanks hugely for your time and effort
Always a pleasure to help if I can. If the pre load does less than 24 turns and it might not be precise, that just means 1mm of pre load could be half a turn or a quarter of a turn so nothing sinister. At my age memory is not my strongest attribute . Andy
I had visions of the back end snaking all over the place , so I'm glad I hadn't 'broken' anything. And at my age I have trouble remembering where the bike is to begin with
Only did the skyhook on the S in 13 and 14. No PP in 15 and when relaunched in 16 reverted to non electric Ohlins. Andy
