I fitted a 23 litre carbon fibre fuel tank on my 999s at the beginning of the year,it has a breather aperture at the front left at the top ,see pic, anyway I went out for a ride today and filled the tank to the brim for the first time since having it on and as soon as I put the bike on the sidestand to go and pay I noticed petrol pissing out of the breather stub,as soon as I had paid and got the bike upright and sat on it it levelled out and stopped...is this supposed to do this or is it just a shit design?...don't really want to ruin the expensive paint job I had done just yet!....any ideas/solutions/advise welcome
Have a high loop in breather and it should be fine. If you leant it over quick the surge of fuel might've started syphonic action.
Thanks,i think the tube isn't as tight a fit as it could be either, just ordered some proper vent tube and been looking at an inline one way breather valve, are they any good? I was told it is a Kamna tank, bought it whilst on a trip to Germany,it came with a nice TWM billet filler cap too.
Might seem a stupid question ,but here goes...I bought one of these one-way breather valves and fitted it half way along a routed breather pipe on the inside of my cockpit, there is a small arrow on the valve which I assume should be pointing away from the tank?...anyway just filled the bike today and theres fuel pissing out of the end of the breather which is a good 18 inches away from the tank outlet. Have I fitted it the wrong way round?
