Hello guys, I am riding 2011 Multistrada 1200. First of all, sorry for my bad english, I am not native speaker. This problem has occured to me during several rides. As I was cruising, the whole motorcycle was shuting down for like one second. The only thing helps is squeezing the clutch; then the motorcycle turns on and everything seems to be ok. The interesting part is that during idling, there is no problem whatsoever. Diagnostics sees no problem. Before this problem started occuring, I reached 50000 kms for regular Desmo service - the control light is turned on. Is it possible that this problem occurs because of Desmo service limit reached (and gone slightly above it) or does your experience says something else? Btw., everything, including plugs, oil, etc. has been changed before season and should be working fine.
I would check your side stand switch. These can go wrong and cause the machine to think the side stand is down and shut off the engine. When you pull the clutch in, this overrides the safety mechanism and allows the bike to restart. You can cheat the side stand switch like this And that will allow you to test the theory. Just tape it up to stop water getting in.
Thanks for your reply. Will test this asap. I actually thought about this problem, tried to move the side stand, but did not go all the way to modify the switch.

Quick update: Tried the thing with side stand switch - did not work. Then my friend came up with the idea of switching DTC off, tried, and so far, after 40 kilometers, the problem is gone. Tried to switch it on and the problem occured almost immediately.
