1200 Tedious Orange Light -engine Error- The Saga Continues.

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by spanish, Jun 29, 2017.

  1. 2013 TS Multi suddenly showed " engine error" two weeks ago. Absolutely rode normally.

Local dealer (fairly new to Ducati) after "diagnostic" replaced air pressure sensor to one cylinder- "engine error" still on and bike still rode normally.

Yesterday they tried again and freed up the exhaust valve ( bike had been Rexxer tuned and was told the valve was inactive by the tuner) but still "engine error" and the opinion now is that it is a loom issue and the bike is needed for several days and ' several hours of labour to try and find the loom fault'"! To be fair the dealer has been arrentive and helpful.

Seems ridiculous. Normal riding bike but just an orange warning light that seems as it will probably cost up to 500£ to turn off!

Wonder if any advice or experience. Thought of asking for a second opinion from an 'experienced Ducati mechanic' but not sure where to seek this. Happy to travel from home near Peterborough or do I just have to suck it and go with the flow!

  2. Sounds like you need it plugged in at a local dealer ship. Quick 15minutes or so plugged in & given the error specific message. Some dealerships always leave an hour or so clear in the late afternoon for people who turn up & query or want a chain added et cetra. Ring around & get that 2nd opinion before agreeing to outlay a large amount of cash for a trival thing'

  3. Maybe try St Neots Motorcycles who were longstanding Ducati dealers until fairly recently. I`ve used them a couple of times and was amazed by the excellent service provided. I`m pretty sure they are still happy to deal with Ducatis .
Failing that maybe JHP in Coventry if that is not too far. I have not used them but intend to start as everyone raves about them

  4. Agree. St Neots have always supplied and looked after my Multistradas well but they do not have Ducati software now so unable to help.
Probably will seek 'second opinion' in case there is a quick fix and most likely from Seastars. The beggar is that the bike is running beautifully- both to ride and on the diagnostic computer though 'fault' still shows!!
