I was a cheapskate this year and had to mostly watch the Moto GP via Ch4 on Monday which was not good! I have been tempted to change to the dark side with this deal from B.T Broadband Packages And Deals Online | BT It's the standard BT broadband and weekend calls deal I'm considering. It says that you can watch BT sport via an 'APP OR ONLINE' So I presume that I get to watch it online only. I'm a bit out of touch with all this stuff so would appreciate some clarification before I go ahead and commit.
John, If you have freeview television or Sky you will be able to activate the BT sport channels using a code. You can only use it on one tele unless you've got multi room package. Not sure about Virgin or Talk Talk but imagine it will be similar.
Phil Thanks for that info, much appreciated. Yes, I do have freeview, so once I activate it with the code I will be able to watch it on my T.V. I do have a cable that I connect from my computer to my TV, to enable me to watch whats on my computer on the TV screen, which is great, but I would rather do it the this way.
Needs to be an active Sky card. you cannot watch BT sport on Freeview, only via Sky box, but you can watch it on Computer connected to TV. BT as a rule now is not bad, I have just upgraded to infinity, so nice to get 40 meg download over 6 meg, GF also just upgraded she has gone to 40 meg from .25 meg, so you can imagine how happy she is It also pays to buy the 12 month subs and only pay 10 months, as it is the line rental that stuffs you up
The channels are there, but you cannot get anything on them? It is very important you do not get BT for BT Sport, thinking you will be able to get it watching it on the Sky platform, Sky got wise to it, and made it you have to have an active SKY subscription to be able to get BT sport for free. I also think that BT sport is only free for first year when taking a new BT contract, YOu need to double check it though
My initial thoughts are this is a relatively good deal for me, and most impotantly enables me to watch Moto GP next year. Line rental if paid up front= £169.9 broadband 12 months @ £4.75/month= £57 Total=£226.9 Factor in the sainsburys £75 voucher which I would spend anyway in sainburys and its £151.9 a bargain at £12.65/month for braodband and Moto GP!
(I also think that BT sport is only free for first year when taking a new BT contract, YOu need to double check it though) I have BT Sport and watching it through sky, it is free every year with bt broadband but i think you have to commit to a further 12 months after the first 12 have expired, keeping you on a 12 month rolling contract. Steve
Crystaljohn it is a good deal, but as I said just make sure you understand what and how you are going to get BT Sport
Looks like a good deal however just bear in mind BT customer services are absolutely shit. Waited over a month for our broardband to finally be connected even after being guaranteed it would be active the day we moved in. Not at all racist ( even to jocks ) but when you talk to sanjha in Calcutta they will promise you the world. That said since its been up and running it's been fine.
When I went from Talk Talk to BT it was a nitemare, Reckon that was a month, agree with Drinky, GF also changed from talk talk to BT at same time hers went as planned, both our upgrades in the last week went to plan really well.
I hate TV and broadband providers - bastards :Rage::Rage::Rage::Rage::Rage::Rage::Rage::Rage::Rage::Rage::Rage: but can't be arsed to change from Virgin as I can't be arsed to understand all the different shit they offer. Just have the basic package and watch Moto GP on CH4 replay, sometimes after Matt has told us the results, wish he'd fuck off for a while :Angelic::Arghh:
BT are useless in fact beyond useless took them 4 months to sort out our 2 lines, broadband etc which when you are running 2 businesses from home isn't good. Got lots of compo eventually and I wouldn't piss on them if they were on fire bastids the lot of them useless communication passed to Dave in India at every call. Ended up having to take it to CEO and board level. Useless doesn't cover it. But good luck .
Well I spent about 3/4 hour this morning, asking some questions to the very helpful English guy on the other end of the phone, as I wanted to be sure I could watch Moto GP -which is my reason for considering changing my broadband supplier from TalkTalk to BT. I was told that if I got the basic package I would get an app that would allow me to watch it on my computer, but that I wouldn't then be able to use my hdmi cable to watch the computers display on my TV. I was told that if I got the next package up, BT Infinity 1 ( £7.50/month) they would supply the TV basic package with no cost per month, apart from the £30 transfer fee or something, and another £19 to activate it. The BT Infinity package would double my download allowance to 20GB/month and have a much higher download speed. ( I currently get about 8GB/sec so not worried about that!) I then asked about the Sainsburys voucher and was told that I could only get that if I did the dirty deal online. Well I was nearly pursueded by the BT Infinity package but definitely didn't want to miss out on £75, so I agreed to cancel the agreement that I nearly made and next thing I know is the phone goes dead and I am transferred to a female who asks me what she can help me with. I related the story that I had just been told and she said that's bolloxs, I would be able to watch BT Sport online with the App and of course I could use my hdmi cable to watch my computers screen content on my TV like I have always done. By this time I was starting to get the inevitable headache from dealing with all this so said I need to think about it. FFS it ain't easy is it!
I used to watch Eurosport and various other channels on my TV via iPad and HDMI cable then I think companies got savvie and now all I get is sound, no picture though.
tbh if you can get it on your laptop, or puter, and it has an HDMI output, you can listen and see what ever is on your computer screen on the TV, has nothing to do with apps or what ever. It is a mirror of the Screen, and the sound.
Be very wary of 20 gig a month, once you have speed, you tend to start watching more films, and vids etc. especially if you have some thing like Net Flix, (best £6-00 a month you can spend in my view)
just get a friend with bt sport to give you their password and account name, then you can watch motogp ont puter or tv. @bradders
So that's the shite they spout when they are trying to get you signed up imagine what the service is like once you're locked into a contract
I was interested to read all the comments. I was watching MotoGP through Wiziwig.tv on my laptop and it was free and it was usually BT sport. I have just changed what I was doing as a friend told me he had all the sports/films channels etc and it wasn't through the normal sky/virgin etc. I have just canecelled sky at £46 per month (no BT sport) and have bought a V5S box from fleabay. It came with a years free gift. Which was every sky/satellite channel thrown in. If you go on fleabay the boxes vary but I bought one for £90 (with years gift) you can get 2/3 years gifts. It's basically plug in your dish as normal, plug in an Ethernet cable from your internet box to the new V5S box and away you go. I think you just email the company who you bought it from when the year is up pay £20 and you get another yars worth of Sky tv. I get all the sports including ESPN. the menus not as good as sky etc but easy when you get used to it. I think you can record to a USB memory stick if needed! worked out i'll save myself about £500 ayear binning sky!!! Hope this helps someone else!!!
