1199 Termi Upmap

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by Regenwulf, Jun 5, 2018.

  1. Hi all,

I have purchased from a member here a set of barely used Termi cans to fit onto the end of the standard pipes on my 1199. The cans came with the Upmap key which I was told had been 'reloaded' with the Upmap from the original bike the cans were fitted to.

Unfortunately, having come to fit the cans and try to change the map, the bike announces that 'Download Aborted' and it all comes to a stop. It seems likely that this is because the map was never 'reloaded' as had been understood (although I can't be 100% that that is the problem).

The seller is entirely trustworthy I am sure and is doing what he can to sort me out, including rushing an alternative key to me. I think there may just have been a mix up and I have no issues at all with him.

My difficulty is that I need the bike sorted to go on track with in the next few days. So, I have a few questions:

    1. How dreadfully badly will my bike run with the Termi cans and a Sprint filter, on the original map? Luckily the track is fairly tight and I won't be running a full speed/throttle as often as I might elsewhere.
    2. Will running baffles help?
    3. Would a dealer be able to sort this out for me as I understand the map itself is pre-programmed onto the ECU and just needs 'releasing'? I am waiting for the technician at my local dealer to call me back but I have my doubts about their experience/expertise in this sort of thing.

Thanks all - this is all a bit of a last minute panic, as it always seems to end up being!

  2. Hi all,

I know this is a slightly tricky issue; no-one have any insight or experience to share re the above?

    Cheers,

  3. Have you thought about just getting it mapped properly? never mind the up-map

  4. Get it mapped properly, it’s miles better than the Ducati up map

  5. Don' try and get it done on the cheep ... get it set up and mapped properly ...

  6. I have 2 upmaps and would be happy to sell one for £150 delivered. The Termi upmaps work well in my opinion.
Ive used The half system and the full system maps on my 1199

  7. Thanks all.

Actually just got back from my first trackday on the bike having received an alternative upmay key from the seller and it worked fine luckily, so problem over.

I'm sure that a proper set up with a specialist would be better, but unfortunately it's not so easy for me as I live on Jersey and we have nothing even approaching that level of expertise. I' try to get it over to the mainland at some point and ask someone good to sort it for me; for now I'm pleased just to have gotten the standard upmap installed, and the bike seemed to run well.

Incidentally, is the map essentially what the RapidBike module provides? Forgive my ignorance, but given my logistical difficulties of getting a bespoke map, would the RapidBike module basically be an alternative bolt on solution?

    Cheers,

    RW

  8. Nothing can beat a proper dyno setup, you can also change a few bits, I removed the narrow band lambda’s and made the cooling fan kick in a little lower. Oh and it rides lovely ;)

  9. Glad you got it on time for the track day mate, sorry the first key didn't have the map on. I got the cans off a friend who got very sick and had to sell his bike; he was sure the map had been put back on but was obviously wrong. Whilst I'd agree with what the guys here say in that a custom map is better, especially in the low to mid ranges (where Ducati seem to go lean to pass euro regs?), I've always used the Ducati maps and been happy enough.

  10. Good to see a happy ending :p
