Hey. Looking to buy a 996 with standard pipes so obviously I need to by some new cans if I get her. Do I need the chip and is it simple to fit? What does the size in mm refer too? Will I need any connectors to the rest of the exhaust? Does the subframe or seat unit need altering? How much should I be looking to pay for new and second hand? Cheers.
I like the 'obviously' bit. 1. They run more efficiently if re-programmed to suit the new exhaust. But I put cans on a 748 with no other changes and had no problems. Others may give more specific advice. 2&3. The size dictates the diameter of the pipes. Most are 45mm and the common mod is to put 50mm cans on with a 45 to 50mm link pipe. 4. The subframe doesn't change. 5. Depends on what you actually go for. Bit of a cop out that I know. I'm sure you'll get all sorts of prices and recommendations but keep checking Ebay to get an idea of what they go for. Then just buy which ones best fit you circumstances. ie. Price, personal preference on looks etc. Don't be tempted to go too big unless you're planning on serious tuning and don't rush. I ended up with 3500£s worth of brand new Akrapovic 60mm EVO full system for £1100 off ebay just by waiting for something to call out to me as being something i need to have.
Ducati are re launching old Termi silencer kits in November inc 748/916/996 models no chip or ecu but around £900 +
I gotta admit, I wasn't too impressed with the finish of the termis on my sps. Some JHP cans I had on a 748 were better quality, and the Akrapovic is a different league. I wouldn't bin termis if they were already fitted though. That's a lie, cos I did, but you know what I mean.
Lots of aftermarket pipes out there for 916/996 on fleabay usually.Sil motor are also as good as termi same with JHP cans.If you have to have the termi's as above the 45mm - 50mm half system is better.Full 50 mm termi 916SPS system I have sounds deeper but its not for sale. But have to agree with above best quality ,fit,finish and definitely sound are the full Akrapovic evo systems.The sound produced by the Akrapovic evo is much deeper than any of the above and is also fully tapered in design.Only other one I can think of that matches it is the very rare moto corse full systems.
Sweet ride mate. Can't see much on eBay. I TERMIGNONI Titanium full exhaust system for £800. As new apparently. Cans seem about £400 second hand. Patience may be the key. May have to wait till after Christmas.
Thanks mate. German ebay is best for Akrapovic evo 60mm full systems for 996. Termi systems seem to fetch more money than say sil motor of jhp systems.Its worth waiting for a 45mm - 50mm half system to come up than just cans.£800 for a full termi system with ti cans seems pretty fair price especially if as new condition. Also factor in custom map and dyno time.Mine feels much better with PCM111USB also.

I have a pair of good condition 45mm Termi exhausts if you decide to go that route/if you are interested. They will be cheaper than Ebay and could even bring up to Boxhill in the car for inspection depending where you live.

Might be lucky as it's Christmas and others are distracted with other things. It often pays to bid on some items at this time of year. I have had a few decent buys just before Christmas and during the early New Year lull.
