  1. Where does that start from?

  2. Here you go @ducv2 it’s the green diamond shaped track that starts just below the stream crossing at Hob Hole…starts on the John Brecon road

Now I “wrongly “ though that was a public bridleway and would be good enough to ride the bike on, but it’s not,..it’s marked on the legend as a “ National trail” and it’s barely walkable in places

I joined it half way down past Westerdale village at the end of the road past Hall farm….

If you look on Westerdale moor you can see a double chain dotted black track that runs diagonally from the top road through Tor hill and Waites moor, that’s the one I originally wanted to do, but the gamekeepers were out on the quad bikes and I didn’t want any “ Get orf my land” confrontations, ..I go out on the mtb to chillax and that would have spoiled my day.
Great pity though as it’s a fantastic looking downhill track that runs diagonally across the side of Westerdale moor for about 3 miles :upyeah:

  3. Cheers @Poucher, I can see that i did part of that trail many years ago, might have to revisit it when the undergrowth dies down.

  4. I think she scrubs up well for an old girl.
I bought this frame (Litespeed Vortex 6Al/4V titanium) new in 2003 and hung the then current DA Groupset on it. Did some road races and a lot of triathlons on it and updated to Dura Ace 7800 (which she still runs) circa 2007.
In 2009 the head tube which housed an integrated headset bearing developed cracks. It took Litespeed a few months to sort it, but she came back with a new (external bearing) head tube looking as good as new. She was kinda relegated to wet weather rides from then.
Anyways, after a winter/spring of Zwift abuse I thought I'd give her a strip down, clean and rebuild. This pic was taken after a shake down ride and she's as good as new. I'd like to hang a Campag Super Record Groupset on her, because I'm very partial to the looks and love the solid click of the shifts - but need to win the lottery first.

  7. Just back from a proper cooker this morning, 40 miles of off road bliss over the moors. 3.5k+ of climbing and neck end of 5 hours moving. Overall 7 litres of fluid consumed....

  9. You've got to keep hydrated in this heat. Wards off cramping. Set off with 3 litres on my back and another .75 in a bottle on the bike, both bladder and bottle got a refill half way round.

Snacks and drinks and you can keep going with a smile on your face

  10. agree - managed 66 miles last year in similar heat and could have easily jumped in the river a couple of times.

  12. 2 hours in the saddle this morning, bushed now just too hot.

Even when you’re a pro things go wrong.

  13. Miss my hyper sometimes but the 790 I have beats it 99% of the time.

  14. Rather toasty today.
Luckily, some twat in a car decided to hurl not only abuse at me but also a bag of liquid. Not sure what it was (didn’t smell…) but hit me on the shoulder and was quite refreshing…
That was the second car rage directed at me and I hadn’t even gone a mile at that point.
Some people. Oh well, “let them have their fun…” ho ho.

  16. Go wild in the country.
56 miles, bit silly really, considering my slightly ginger genealogy.

  18. Had a 16 miler this afternoon over the moors, felt like 3 times that in this heat. Alas, no pics but hell fire, I did some sweating.... 2 litres supped in less than two hours. Leg sappingly hot today.

I'm not really moaning though, I like it when on the move and we should revel in the nice weather.

I'll be back out tomorrow too.....

Then, off work Wednesday and out all day on the monster.... It'll give my legs a well deserved rest :)
