My favourite is one I read about when I was a kid and it was a guy who wanted to do some sunbathing but he lived in LA which was blighted by smog, so he attached numerous weather balloons to a deck chair in order to float above the haze. For safety’s sake he tethered the chair to the ground and packed an air pistol to selectively pop a few balloons when he needed to return to Earth. The plan went well until he fell asleep and the tether snapped, allowing him to rise untrammelled to a height of, IIRC, 20,000 ft, where he was spotted and reported as a UFO by a passing airliner. He then woke, shot out some balloons and returned to the ground but landed on electricity lines, causing a power cut. As he survived, he only received an honourable mention.

He might not have had autopilot on...this week, a guy at work with a Tesla had a guy (who didn't leave enough space) slam into his rear after the Tesla automatically slammed on the brakes on a fast flowing road as it "detected" an accident ahead...
Not that unusual though - perhaps a bit more daft to do it when they did, but they are not alone in that kind of action
