  1. Sad but for clarity if I may , Les was the last surviving pilot - there are still crew alive, albeit not many.

    All partook in something memorable.

  2. My favorite film! Channel 4 between Xmas and New Year without fail. Mince pies and a mug of tea with The Dambusters on tv. Priceless!
     
  3. My mum's uncle served with 617 as ground crew during Operation Chastise and had the job of clearing out the aircraft after the raids - including moving bodies ( and bits of bodies ). Brave men, one and all...

  6. RIP Les, a great man indeed.
    I did 9 of my 12 years in the RAF as an engine & airframe tech on 617, Tornados in my time, but you were still always referred to as the "hole in the wall gang"!
