appreciate a lot of people seem to like Henry Cole but i cant watch his programme without thinking of anyone else struggle ?
He is a bit lame to be fair but seems a nice enough chap. He appears to have made some good money making these bike shows. World's greatest motorcycle rides was watchable but always felt it could have been much better. I give him 7/10.
I watched 10 minutes of an episode a few weeks ago...Not sure if it was the Motorbike Show but definitely Henry Cole He was explaining how he and his colleagues were removing the engine on a bike and what they were doing next, while his 2 mates struggled with the engine and he drank tea and gave orders Hence why I only saw 10 minutes....May of got better but I never gave it a chance.... It reminded me of that tit Robson Green and his Fishing programme....He was with some tribesman in the middle of nowhere up a river, the tribesman struggles like hell to catch and drag in a huge fish, Robson helps him lift it into the boat and proclaims look what I've caught...
:tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy: ec-bloody-zactly! “ive renovated this old triumph” No mate you pulled your wallet out, paid scrap money for it and left it with your mate to do all the dirty work while you stand round making partridge-esque comments about how “mint” it looks quaffing tea and biscuits. I agree he seems like a “nice chap” but my god he one massive fucking fanny.
Ha ha ha I gave up watching shed and buried after they painted up a couple of toy yachts and sat having a picnic while there boats languished in the weeds of what looked like some 6 inch deep village cesspit overflow....
I find him ok, its a difficult subject to present and come across as knowledgable, interesting, humorous and cool to a cross section of picky bikers, I think he does a pretty good job and the bikes and guests he features have been good so far too.
Watched at a lot of his shows, so I must think he is ok. I don't believe he takes himself to seriously which for me is a good thing. Measure someone by asking yourself, would you have a beer with them, I would. Considering the amount of self obsessed pricks on telly, he's not doing a bad job.
Take any place, any bike, any topic and no matter how inherently interesting it is, Mr Cole can make it seem terminally boring. The programmes have many merits but what they need most is a good presenter - and sadly he is not it. IMHO.
He'd make a good Countryfile presenter. His style is superficial gloss seemingly aimed at casual viewers who have tuned in to look at the pretty pictures but who don't actually know anything about the subject at hand. Coffee table television. On the other hand he's pretty much all we've got on TV and he gives the impression that he'd be good company for a pint, but if you went on a run with him I reckon he'd be tail-end Charlie and you'd spend half the day waiting for him to catch up. I quite enjoyed his piece on the Classic TT. Could have done with far more meat on the bones but it did convince me that I'd like to go to the Classic one year.
Yeah I'd have a beer with him..... Ive no doubt he'd pay but I'd have to fetch them from the bar while he told stories of how he treated me to a round...
He's different. Not a bad thing, just enthusiastic. I watch his stuff, even though a few things he says makes me cringe a little. His content is good and as I said before he comes across like a genuine bloke.
Absolutely. He doesn't pretend to know everything, and his programs are more entertaining than a lot of the fluff on TV. I don't know why people have to be so critical all the time. Yes, it may be possible for someone else to do the programmed better, but they are not. They wouldn't even be on if it wasn't for his passion and his background... Nothing is perfect, but it entertains, and nobody else IS bothering to do it better..... And if they do come along, there is space for them all.
It's just great to have bikes on the telly! Not everyone rides everwhere at terminal velocity so he's fine with me. I'd ride out with him as I reckon he's got loads of untold stories about trips and tours out. The show could do with some more sports bikes though, but you can't please everyone
Bikes on the telly - got to be a good thing, no matter what... Henry Cole - dull as ditch water... And such an irritating voice...
I think he's a really nice guy.. He's a Character and that's what we need sometimes... It's kind of nice seeing a guy who's happy to try things that he's not really comfortable doing, like the dirt bike he fell off breaking his shoulder, speed record at Bonni and jumping through the hoop of fire.. The programmes not polished up with lighting effects etc, which makes a nice change.. Just wish there were less British bikes featured and a few more from Italia ...
What the hell is wrong with criticism? It is a lot better to form a balanced critical view of things than it is to swallow everything you are fed uncritically.
if you own a production company, direct in TV and advertising and have a passion for motorcycles then why not? Not everyone who went to Eton can be a politician. Self indulgence it may be but then for many that's what motorcycling is.... The hairy bikers seem to have performed a similar move... So did Charley Boring and whats'issocks....... BVG....... The run up to Scotland he did is a leveller. Can't buy fine weather!
