  1. Finally got my bike back from baines... just enjoying an ad hoc rest southbound m40 around high wycombe...

  2. Has it conked out or are you really just stopped on the hard shoulder for a rest?

  3. Your bike seems to attract rain.

  4. If you feel unable to continue a journey safely & also feel you can offer assistance to a person on a motorway. There is nothing illegal in doing so, it is an urban-myth that you cannot stop on a hard-shoulder unless in an emergency! The running speed of the hard shoulder is 70mph also.

  5. If you insist on riding a Ducati in the rain you will be doing lot of stopping. The Police know this and they understand.

  6. I challenge you to produce evidence that this is true.
I can find plenty that says otherwise, so can you back this up?
In similar fashion, I cannot find any guidance on "running speed", what is this?

They've had 3 days of rain in the last year!

Close Gim, close but not Leicestershire as we know it.

  10. and here is teh missing piece of the puzzle... the low fuel light never popped up but in fairness if id have paid more attention i would have noticed that it was 147m since the last fill

  11. tell me about it.. what a muppet

any thoughts on steps to isolate cause of the light not working?

  12. My old one used to randomly go on and off...Not that reliable!

  13. At least you've got an excuse. My fuel light was working perfectly but I ran out of gas halfway between Loomies and Winnall because I didn't want the low octane fuel on offer at West Meon and though I could make it back to Winchester. Had to call the AA...:Banghead:

And fuel lights aren't the be all and end all anyway. My 1290 Superduke has a fuel gauge, fuel light, average fuel consumption readout and estimated fuel range remaining but I still ran out. I set out for town and the nearest filing station five miles away with the fuel light on but a twenty mile range indicated. Halfway there it changed its mind and decided I only had ten miles left. A mile later it had another change of heart and decided I had no miles left and the bike conked out half a mile from Tescos. I had to park up and walk, buy a fuel can and some gas and walk back in leathers on a hot day carrying a lid and a brand new green placcy fuel can so everyone could tell I'd been a bellend.
I stuffed the empty can in a hedge and come back later in the van to pick it up. To be fair, I did need a new petrol can and that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

  14. That and the neutral light are the 2 things I never trust to work :) I always reset the trip meter and hunt for a petrol station when I get near the 120, unless it's been a "spirited" ride then I'm hunting from 100 :D

  15. On a Streetfighter it would be handy if all the neutrals had a light instead of just the one between first and second.

  16. When I got my CBR600RR I thought great it has a fuel gauge......

I just ended up using the last bar of the indicator as a fuel light, the first 2 bars took about 65 mile to dissappear then the next 4 would go in around 25 mile ha ha ha

  17. St john ambulance £200 first aid hgv driver course & secondly a serving police officer. Third query was the term a rep from a speed awareness course. It is more commonly called maximum speed permitted on the hard-shoulder as in, the same as the running lanes of a carriage-way. Running lane three been the fastest usually. Hope this all helps'
