So, I need your advice please. The Hyper 1100S I’ve bought has about £500 worth of blue pro-bolts on it, I’m taking them off and getting them reanodised black, whilst doing this I’m getting some other bits done in red

This includes the fork top adjusters, question is do they simply just screw off ? Or is there more to it than that !

PS I’m a mechanical dunce so please bear with me !

  2. That will require a complete fork strip by someone who is a proper specialist.

  4. Just to confirm, I ain’t touched it yet so the threads are not harmed but I thought they would just screw off so I can get them anodised. Is this not the case ?

  6. The red hex is the preload adjuster, housed inside the fork top. It will screw in and out and will "stop" at each end of the adjustment range. The slotted piece inside the red pe load adjuster is the rebound adjuster, again that will screw in and out to a stop.

That's quite a piece of interlocking engineering, that's why IMO a proper specialist is required.

  9. I think that’s a definite

  10. Is it the bit that’s already red that you want to remove?

  11. To get the top off the forks you will need to spin the outside nut off. If you remove the bars you may be able to do this with the forks still in the bike.

spin the outer all the way out. Use a plastic bag over the top so the spanner doesn’t mark the nut. Once they’re undone you should be able to lift the spring up enough to expose where the top of the fork joins the damper rod. You then should be able to compress the spring enough to get a spanner on the lower nut ( think it 14mm ) and separate the top from the damper rod. If you haven’t got the room to compress the spring then you’ll have to remove the legs from the bike.
Once you have done this you’ll be left with this.

If you turn it upside down you’ll see the red anodised bit is inserted inside the outer fork top. Use a bit of force, I managed to push it up with my thumb, and the red bit will push out.

Good shout on the black though, I might just go down that route

  14. Sell the Rizoma Tat too and buy beer :):upyeah:
