Discussion in 'Other Bikes' started by Mark9, Aug 26, 2020.

  1. Picked this up today, it was at the right price so I drove to Maidstone from Derby to pick it up, got home too tired to ride it!, I’ll report back tomorrow. 00C4D4D2-076C-4F9C-9060-A5143E688FE6.jpeg

  3. They’re nice bikes, I really like them.
One of the very few bikes that really tempts me at moment.

    I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.

  4. I saw one the other day with Akrapovics, sounded superb. Nice looking bikes.

  5. Very nice:upyeah:.

  7. good choice mate, I sold my Daytona and bought a 68Plate Thruxton R a few months ago now, I really like it, went out last night for a good 70 mile blast all around the back roads and it's just so good to ride. Honestly I think I ride it as hard as I do my Panigale V2 on the road, it's really capable, and having so much torque is brilliant, literally pulling out of corners from 2k RPM and having to almost pull on the bars to stay up the seat is cool.

  9. Retro is the new adventure. Realistic performance for the road, ace looks and stonking sound.
    Nice choice.

  10. Excellent, I'm only 10 miles from maidstone. Was it a private sale?

Thanks for the kind comments all.

    Yes Doggy, from someone called Graham, nice chap, due to the weather I’ve only done about 60 miles so far, first impressions are;
Lovely engine, minimal vibration, very torquey.
Heavy (But I knew that having ridden a T120) but it’s only noticeable whilst pushing it around.
Very stable handling but the back end kicks on bumpy corners.
Would like the bars to be an inch higher but I’ll wait to see if I get used to it, (only feels uncomfortable on my wrists under braking).
It has the comfort seat fitted (the PO gave me the original single seat as well) Triumph seems to have the same idea re comfort as Ducati, I.e their comfort seat is little better than the original! :), but it’s fine for an hour or so and I’ve still got the M900 for longer rides.

So first mod will be Hagon rear shocks, I read a few reviews and people are saying it sorts out the rear.
Then BikeTecparts progressive front springs, again they’ve had good reviews , all in all very pleased, IMO it looks gorgeous, just need to make it “my own” with a few mods as above, here’s some more photos. A8E568F8-9192-4AB1-94FF-D88BE74CEAEA.jpeg

  12. Looks good! I have a black 2016 Thruxton. De-catted with V&H pipes sounds awesome. Hoping I can afford to keep it and get a Diavel. We will see. I love the Thruxton. I'm 6'3" and find it fairly comfortable and have done 300+ miles in a day without complaint. Its reliable and can be thrashed mercilessly : ). Keeps up with most bikes no probs.

  13. I rode a Thruxton R in the Classic TT Parade Lap a couple of years ago, loads of touque, handled well, my only criticism it was very heavy.

  14. Congratulations they really got the proportions bang on when triumph penned this one
There’s definitely space in my garage for one!

  16. Yes they are heavy, I’ve always been a fan of light bikes hence riding Ducati’s but other than pushing it around I don’t notice the weight, it’d be a better bike if it was lighter of course :)
