Hey folks, and to old friends of Ducatisti. This is just a very quick note to say hello again as ive only posted on here once since i joined, months after Ducatisti came offline. Ive been away from bikes and everything for some as i suffered a neck injury back in January which has left me unable to work (im a guitar teacher/musician)...or to do pretty much anything else fun, due to a large disc prolapse which has compressed the nerves at c5/6 and exerting pressure on my brain stem/spinal chord...yes, it is as painful as it sounds and i have been struggling to use the right side of my upper body ever since...ive lost nearly 3 stone in lean bodyweight and been living on Dihydrocodeine, Methocarbomol, Diclofex and (more recently Citalopram anti depressants lol!!!)...when i cough i rattle like a tube of smarties hehe!! i was a keen amateur bodybuilder but now all my clothes look like i got them from a jumble sale and ive taken to doing bicep curls with AAA batteries. obviously scraping my sliders is out of the question...i cant even rub a meguiars sponge over Bella (and those in the know about me just LOVE how retentive i am about bike detailing!!).. Luckily, all this happiness has been a welcome distraction from the fact that my missus left me yesterday morning...no, im not bull5hitting you...i have the gaunt, red eyed photo on my phone to prove it (please PM)...at least its not raining outside..oh..hang on... On the positive side, im having an operation on 30th July, an anterior discectomy, with a prosthetic disc to be inserted in my neck..so im hoping that will be the start of me getting my life together/starting a new life....Still, at least im eligible for Statutory Sick Pay for £57 p/wk!! yes..forgot to mention that i broke my thumb literally, the day before my spinal surgeon gave me the results of my MRI!!..heres a pic before it swelled up to the size of a space hopper....nail fell of a few days ago, so alls well that ends well, and vice versa.. View attachment 3779
Cheesee I was thinking I had bad start to the year, all in perspective now and all that. Respect for being sarcastic funny . Get well man and if you need I can pop in get your bike filthy and either leave it like that for you to enjoy later on or clean it a bit ;D
Bad luck fella, having had major back surgery with a fusion done on two discs last year I feel yer pain...well not literally. Hope it starts to improve soon, being laid up again at the mo following a little tarmac-air-tarmac-grass-ambulance excursion I'm taking solice in the fact its pissing down all the time!!
Pleased you haven't lost your sense of humor funky, I for one have missed it. Things must pick up from here on or I shall have to come and polish that bike for you, just to keep you sane. GWS Steve.
holy fack!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i thought emm had been through it this year till i read that .......................no one should suffer the loss of something dear to them !!!!!!!!!!! .........i keep all my nail clippings for that very reason ............i suggest you move to barnsley as they have no necks up here either .............good luck :biggrin:
Hey Funky so sorry to hear all thats gone on, i know its a cliche but things do get better and easier with time, i was in a similar situation a few years ago, although not the medical issues and losing your missus can hurt more than any medical condition, ive totaly moved on and am the happiest ive been for a very very long time, the lady i met ten months ago has put everything into perspective and were moving in together next month and have even talked about marriage down the line so things do improve, getting the ole confidence back and removing the size ten from your knackers is good place to start. Good luck with the op and hope everything goes really well........just dont go listening to any soppy records !!!!!!

Lucaz theres nothing wrong with marriage mate so long as its with the right person, i know its not the be all and end all but in my case its what we both want in the long run, i was also trying to give Funky some encouragement.
I know I know just kidding. We must give Funky other reasons to talk about as well. We have cleaning bikes, black thumbs and now marriage
