  1. Ok after all the USB charging crap in this thread http://ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/new-tank-bag.34761/I decided to share a mod I did to my top box last month.

I orderd these Givi Z880 Plate Mounted Contacts | Bykebitz - Givi Z995M Contact | Bykebitz
I started off by removing the mount plate, and using a dermal I cut away some of the plastic lattice under the mount plate, just enough to make room for the plate mounted socket, I then channelled some of the lattice so I could run the power line along it towards my back light. Then I fitted the top box and drilled through both with a 4mm drill, so I had a datum in both parts for cutting the hole for each socket (base plate and top box). I then cut out a bigger hole in each with a 14mm hole saw. Then to make sure the holes were a nice tolerance fit I used a tapered grinding stone in my drill removing a bit of plastic at a time until I could just get the socket to fit.

I sealed the wires with some clear silicone and refitted the base plate to my bike. I routed the wire through the channels I cut in the base plate lattice and through a gap between my back light and trim, I broke into the circuit for the under seat power sockets, I was thinking of using the socket and just fitting a plug to the end of the wire but I'm not so sure those sockets and plugs under the rear wheel arch are water proof. So I broke into the same wiring and soldered the wires to them I also fitted a micro blade inline fuse 3amp in the circuit just for a bit of extra protection.

In the top box I velcrode one of these http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/nikkai-12...ith-usb-socket-1a-with-6-charging-tips-a19jtI
cut off the cigarette lighter type socket and fitted something a bit smaller, I know it would have been handy but I just felt it was to big n clumsy for in the top box.

    any how here's some pics.

  2. Excellent, well done. Ducati and Givi should have done this in the first place. All you need now is to fit a mini-fridge in the top box and you can cool the drinks as you ride along.
