Top quality security kit & service.

  1. Hi,
I just wanted to give a review of the security products I’ve recently bought and also the company I bought them from. I was looking for one of these “ultimate” type chain & locks I remembered seeing demo’d at a show in the past. I was told by a mate they were called Almax so looked for some friendly forum advice and it was exactly what I was looking for. Whilst researching the Almax range I came across another company called Pragmasis based near Tamworth. After a few e-mails back and forth with Steve Briggs the company’s owner I found that he has a really passion for everything he sells, designs & manufactures, yep, he actually makes some of the stuff himself, here in GB, nostalgic huh
    J. Whilst travelling for work in The Midlands recently I arranged to call in and meet Steve and take a look at his products. He showed me everything he has in the Pragmasis bike security range and I can honestly say that it’s all top quality kit. Bottom line is that I ended up buying exactly what I’d had in mind/been looking for, the kit is the dogs, this prices are very keen and Steve’s service & knowledge is 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] to none. If you’re looking for some serious security for your bike then check Steve’s products out here

I must just also add that I have absolutely no connection or loyalty to Steve or his company whatsoever but just love it when I come across a small traditional British company like his hence this post :upyeah:

    Cheers,
    Chris

  2. Sounds like a decent company. I need a new chain and he isn't far from me. Seems like worth a visit.

Almax made a big thing about how their chains could not be bolt cropped a few years ago....but i have a friend who locked his bike with one and lost the key.

An angle grinder went through the chain in 10 minutes!

  3. 10 minutes with an angle grinder is impressive!

  4. Well all I can say is that I trust my Almax implicitly

Ok an angle grinder can chop through it but the sort of scrotes who nick bikes around London are unlikely to be carrying one - whilst a 44" boltcutter can be slipped down a pair of trackie bottoms whilst your mate sits on the front of your (stolen) scooter and takes you to where the nickable bike is parked 1 minute later your Abus,Oxford or whatever chain is neatly snipped, steering lock busted and your mate calmly pushes you with his foot far enough away where you meet another mate waiting with a Transit van.

Secondly an angle grinder is *slightly* noisy and the police may well be feeling your collar well within 10 minutes.

I must admit a bike was nicked near Leadenhall Street in the City using the aforesaid angle grinder but the scrotes had picked their bike well - it was right next to a noisy building site with angle grinders going off all the time - they are cunning *%$£s:frown:

A horrible scenario - but a 16mm Almax will stop that.

Question is - what is securing your bike?

  5. I have been to see Pragmasis today and Steve was very kind enough to spend an hour and a half with me and my bike looking at the best security options.

A really good bloke and top notch kit at a good price. RECOMMENDED!! :upyeah:

I hope he takes the opportunity to join the Forum under the Trader network and advertise the merits of the Anti-Pinch pins he makes as they are a very nice solution for many of our cosmetically delicate bikes.

As someone who has not long had a bike stolen, its not something any of us should take lightly and im really impressed with the stuff these guys make. :upyeah:

  6. Concur with all the good comments about Pragmasis. Had my torc ground anchor and chain for coming up 4 years now. Quality kit. Highly recommended.

  7. Even an Almax won't stop it being lifted into the back of a van!
Make sure it's locked to something immoveable, or at least loop it through the lock of the bike next to you if not.

  8. I just want to add +1 for Pragmasis.

I bought a Torc Series II Ground anchor. Straight away I got an e-mail from Steve apologising as it would be 24 hours before he could dispatch, and offered to let me cancel if that would be a problem! It wasn't, of course.

The kit arrived, and I was super-impressed with the quality and attention to detail - it included drill bit with tape to indicate depth required, and a spare bolt to tap in the ball-bearings into the bolt heads.

Anyway, I'm not exactly a dab hand at DIY, and although I finally managed to drill the four holes in the concrete floor of my garage floor, I also broke one of the supplied resin capsules when trying them out for size.

I contacted Steve, and he was very helpful (not least because he replied to my e-mail within an hour on a Sunday), and suggested a the resin injection kit instead.

By this time, I'd also decided to buy a chain and padlock from Pragmasis, so Steve agreed to give me the package deal, and supply the resign injection kit at cost.

Having seen both the injection kit and resin capsules, I would recommend the injection kit - it's a bit messier, but I think it is likely to give a better result as there's more resin, so you can add plenty to the holes when fitting.

Overall, I'm very impressed with both the product, and the service.

  9. Looks like good kit. Not to digress too much but while youre out and about I got one of these for the hyper and one for the rsv4...

    ROADLOK | Motorcycle Locks

Bloody expensive. but you only need to carry a pin with you to lock it...

  10. 4 blokes and a van. Unless you attach a bike to something immovable with a really solid chain and padlock they are too easy to nick.

  11. Yes - I know....its a nice easy and tidy solution for a quick lock though.....I must confess I don't think id leave either of my bikes anywhere in public for a length of time without being able to see them.
