1200 DVT Torx V. Allen

  1. I notice that the DVT has a mixture of Torx (6-point) and Allen (hex-hole) screw heads. Earlier models had mainly (or exclusively?) Allen head screws, so a set of simple hex keys could do most jobs. Beware - your tool kit now needs to include Torx keys too.

  2. Ducati have been increasingly using torx since the 1098, discs and some of the chassis parts in particular. Like BMW

  4. Ducati seems to use whatever bits they have on-hand.

For instance, my 999S seat is secured by three pairs of bolts. From new, I've had four different varieties of bolt, needing two sizes of Allen key plus a cross-head screwdriver for one of the bolts. I'm not kidding.

  5. Had to add to my meagre toolkit with some new Torx sockets just to fit radiator guards on the s1000r. At least they are stainless though and don't strip at 1st sight of a half inserted or wrong size socket.

  6. If it was easy it wouldn't be any fun.
