I run Touring mode with engine set to High, probably the most popular config. Does this mean I'm getting maximum engine power? Or does Sport mode bump it up even more? I'm not convinced I'm noticing a difference when I try Sport
Yes 160bhp in both, sports mode on mine makes the throttle more receptive to hooning & runs the engine a few degrees more hotter. Touring I find is perfect, although testing urban mode for reduced heat & fuel economy is something I've neglected too do. I wonder if anyone else has tried a full tank range using just calm urban riding style?
Same here, touring mode with engine set to high when the missus is out, sport when solo, not been near urban as yet but would be interested in any fuel economy results
Good thread. I've just picked up my Dvt and find the manuals a tad hard to follow. It's in touring with whatever was set from new atm, but I'd like to customize the settings a bit when it's run in. Probably, for me, just three settings. 1- a sport setting say for track days. 2- a touring setting for normal nobbing about. 3- a rain setting. As I see it I can go into any mode and customize it. I could leave sport for now. Touring is ok for now. But can I customize urban to a rain setting and put power down and set abs and t/c. So, what would be a rain mode settings wise i.e. Abs 1-8 and traction 1-8 plus wheely 1-8? Would they all be better on 6 for instance? Reet posh innit : The bike is freaking amazing.
Basically that is how they are already set - so you don't need to change anything Sport is Sport / Track Touring is Good All round Urban is Wet / City - low power / higher safety / lower bike. I would however suggest you change the touring mode power to high so you have the same power available as in Sports Mode and use your wrist to limit it. All ABS TC WC settings are probably on the safe side in every mode so for my opinion no need to increase them to be more safe..
Both Medium and High engine modes provide 160bhp, the difference is in the ride-by-wire throttle setting..... Medium = standard High = quick action (1/4 turn to full throttle) I usually run Medium in Touring mode and High in Sport, just gives a sharper response.
I run touring with full power but low response, harder front and rear, preload set roughly to my weight front and I think 12 (just firmer than mid way) rear, abs 3, dtc 3, wheely 2 Sport is harder and hardest, high response, dtc 1 and abs 1 no wheelie Urban low lower etc and eveythimg very soft. Lowers bike by over am inch for wobbling around town. Use it a lot Not touched enduro
Can I just check, in the settings, does a low preload number mean a higher or lower suspension height?
Yes. This was suggested by Ducati Glasgow, when I ran out of chain adjustment and they had no sprocket available to replace the one I had on and the teeth were a bit worn. Glasgow to South Coast with luggage & passenger. Range is much improved to 200+, but no pleasure to be had out of the experience. I've only tried sport once and I can't really notice a difference to touring. Does it make suspension harder? The bike can wallow a bit fully laden, if pushed hard.
The differences to Sport and Touring modes are dramatically different with the latest updates. I used to have Touring mode set with highest engine power setting, but since the May updates I've taken it out because it doesn't need it any more. Touring mode is now like Sport mode was pre-May, and Sport mode is now even more aggressive. Highly recommend getting these updates if you've not been into the dealer since April 2016.
