As per title i am in the hunt for a track bike 600-750- or 1000cc something to get started on properly, instead of risking my road bike all the time on track £1500-£2500 budget, probably a long shot but if you don't ask and all that
I expect you could get a cat d 675 for that. Especially if it was a 2006/7. Chuck on some track fairings (plenty knocking about) and ride it. You can add things like slipper clutch and quick shifter as you get into it more. I bought mine for £2600 a couple of years ago. It has a v5 and hadn't been written off or anything but was already a track bike with tatty fairings.
I'm not selling mine I'm afraid. I enjoy it too much! I've enjoyed the garage time too. Looks a bit different now
really tempted to turn the gixxer into a trackbike that way i know its not been abused and know it's history stick track fairing on it a quickshifter and away we go
FB page trackday addicts often has both parts (for gixer) and bikes for sale Which gixer do you have? I have a huge box of spares still...520 sprockets, spare wheels (not sure what they fit model wise), levers, even have some rearsets somewhere...
Have you considered the hire bike route ? I've been renting a track spec 2014 GSXR600 (race brakes, slipper, QA throttle, suspension etc) through Smallboy track rentals for 3 days this year already £220 for the day, and they turn up with the bikes, have them prepped and ready on tyre warmers, and Matt, who runs Smallboy, will set the bike up perfectly for you They'll change tyres, pads etc as needed, and have wets if the heavens open Obviously, it's not as cheap as running your own bike, but it's completely hassle free. You just finish your session, and he's there waiting at the garage to take the bike off you, check it over, and put it on warmers ready for the next session. You can easily do £200 pounds worth of wear to your own bike, and if you bin it, it's £500 maximum. I'll carry on renting this year through Matt, and convert my own 899 into a track bike for next year Those are from Oulton Park last week ;
Is there an ignore thread button? Every time I see this thread I start looking for track bikes that I can't afford :weary:
I've not broken mine yet..... so still for sale as a developed track bike.... 1992 900ss with lots of good bits.
After a look about and putting the word out and a chance personal message it looks like i am sorted with a track bike and its somebody i have met on this fantastic website, details will be kept quiet until deal has been done , a big thankyou to everbodys help , and my faith in good honest people is well and truly on the up
I might rent a bike, so the damage is limited to £500 excess? I would not rent if a 3 / 4K bike became a 6K bill parts and labour repair. I've worked for race teams and I suspect arrive and drive can get a bit messy if the terms and conditions are not clear.. Engine failures etc..
