Track Day Clutch Issue

  1. Okay so we were at Brands yesterday and late morning during the 3rd session after about 8 laps the Brembo radial master cylinder clutch lever began to go flappy - as in the first 1" of the movement was very loose with no back pressure and there was insufficent lift to fully disengage the clutch. Let the bike cool down and the clutch operation came back for 8 or 9 laps when it went again. There appeared to be no loss of fluid from the reservoir but I bled the system through with 606 brake fluid and whilst the initial stuff coming out was shitty, there was no air either from the master cylinder or the slave. The slave is OE 2001 748R and I have had no issue until now. The Brembo radial is 10 years old and was pressure tested in January and passed. I have nothing planned before Silverstone so cannot change just one to eliminate the problem so I have bought a new master and slave anyway. The master will go back to Brembo for a full service and the slave will go into the spares bin until I get the master back and know if it was duff or not. The point of the post is to ask if anyone else has had this experience having had a lot of blank faces when discussed with a dealer and a Brembo rep. Andy

  3. That sounds feasible if it's the master cylinder which was getting quite warm as the fluid heated up. Andy
