Tyres, how old is to old?

  1. Been offered a couple of sets of Power Ones at not a bad price One set is mid 2010 and the other mid 2011. Both new but Im finding mixed resonses on the tinterweb

  2. Hmmm no idea fella but they have to be better than what I've seen you run :upyeah:

I don't think the power ones, or was that pures got a good write up might be worth calling someone like TST and speak to Tony he's an ex-GP Michelin tyre tech.

  3. Im running Power ones at the moment, cant fault them.. I just like to get my moneys worth

  4. 2 years old would really not be a problem. New 900ss's were being sold in 2008, built in 2002. I'm sure many of those bikes left the showrooms on original tyres.

  5. I'm using power ones no probs at all

  6. race/competition or road compound?

would have through road compound would be fine as road tyres are supposed to last 3-4 years legally (from what i have been told by mechanics

competition compound might be a different

i like the power ones when they stick but they i have had them let go without warning so keep a close eye on theof wear and change them before the point where your thinking 'i'll get one more session out of these'

  7. Going back to the original question.... As previously said, a couple of years no problem. But there are a couple of factors to be considered. The tyre degradation will be more so if they've spent their life in an oily unheated workshop. I read somewhere sport rubber should not be stored below 5 deg C. I was advised to store my R10's in the house somewhere like under the stairs/cupboard.
