Tyres Weight

  1. If rotating mass is so important, why does nobody seem to pay attention to the weight of a tyre?

  7. Many do in racing. But it’s a trade off: if the best tyre is heavy vs the worst light, which would you have?!

  8. I just don't recall "weight" in any tyre comparison tests. Grip, wear, wet weather, etc. yes. But weight, no.

  9. Because grip etc is far more important.

But MCN and others have compared them over the years, mainly road tyres from the stuff I’ve read

  10. Ok, but VO2 and KR106/8 are both excellent so why not look at weight?

  11. What’s the difference then?

  12. I have no idea, I'm just thinking out loud why it's not in the equation.

  13. Go find out and post it :upyeah:

  14. It could be slightly expensive if I need to buy one of each!

  15. And don't forget to experiment with different gases. A lot of weight can be saved there! Nitrogen, helium, methane.... we need to know!

  16. What was that stuff that Zeplin was full of?

  17. Robert Plant, Jimmy page, can't remember the others!

  20. Presumably affects unsprung mass as well as rotating mass?
