You know that I think yours is the nicest 899 around , but Panigale bikes without clothes never look as good as trellis framed bikes of old. However some more pics are needed once its completed
also can we have a before and after right up of the difference with the suspension? have you had the springs changed for your weight etc?
I have had the forks rebuilt and the springs have been changed from the standard 10n to 9.5n and the rear shock has been resprung also.Jhp look after my bike and with a couple of years of running bikes in the 899 challenge i am 100% confident the suspension will be set up perfectly,i am looking forward to see if changing the suspension is worthwhile for a average rider, one thing that did surprise me was how much heavier the Ohlins forks are compared to the Showa forks. On a nerdy note if you look at the top yoke you will see that around the center nut there is a oval shaped insert,it is so you can buy different shaped inserts to change the steering head geometry (when used with the cnc lower yokes) and the elastic bands holding the fluid reservoirs on are my latest weight saving idea
I would guess you are around the 14stone mark with kit on then. I had my forks done on my Daytona and bought an Ohlins rear shock and went with similar springs. The difference was night and day on the road, and i am sure you will notice it, especially as the rear suspension of the 899 is definitely the worst point! over fast bumps it's really harsh as well documented. all the Ohlins shocks i have had have hard a real plush feel, they really are worth the money even for road speeds. I am sure K-Tech etc are just as good and it shows that it's an area which has to be compromised or cost. The front Showa's IMHO are close to the Ohlins I had on my Daytona 675R which is quite the compliment as they were epic. I am sure these will be even more amazing, are they 30mm cartridges in there?
I was happy with the Showa bpf and left changing the forks until the last big expence job as i thought it was unnecessary but i have never had a bike with full Ohlins and was interested to see if they live up to the hype, yes they are the fgrt 203 with the 30mm inserts.
They will be lush. I remember u saying u wanted the Ohlins and why not! Absolutely fair play to you! I think I'll try and put some money aside for an Ohlins or K-tech for mine as the next mod.
