A couple of friends from Spain is building this 990cc (KTM) engine, finished well under 150kg! Subframe, deposits and faring in composite
Cracking engine that responds very well to an aftermarket airbox. Has he welded the SAS ports rather than fit blanking plates? That’s dedication to weight saving.
This was his first project. It was a 130kg Suzuki Sv650 engine bike that he made and raced at the TT island of man. But as this was a one of build and the SV engine is a bit heavy.....now the more lighter 990 bike.
The Ducati engine is big bulky and heavy! It has more power but to heavy! The KTM engine is the most small, compact and light V2 available (except the Aprilia SXV550) even lighter then the Suzuki SV650 engine
Keen to follow this. Always (since I started racing) fancied a sub 150kg bike with 150hp that is simply designed to go fast on track.
It’s has 102mm shorter wheel base than the Panigale V4. The goal is to make it under 130kg to be true. The previous project 1 bike they made had 128kg and used a more heavy SV650 engine. The bike they prepared for TT ended up forth (3sek from third place) in the lightweight class and was based on a Kawasaki ER6 and run by Victor López
The guys had a row of potential buyers at Manx for the Project 1 bike but as the didn’t never think about sell any they didn’t have any possibility to make a more like it as they never made any chassis bench. This Project2 990 bike will be at the market but they haven’t still event any website
I see the faring is by speedfiber, was it custom made for there bike or is it another model been adapted.
