959 V2 Parts Interchangeable With 959?

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by Niels23, Apr 14, 2021.

  1. so I got my 959 yesterday and obviously had to ride it right away. Love the old fashion characteristics like the induction sound and the narrow build of the v-twin like the 916. Characteristics from the past which Ducati could have left behind is the hard seat and suspension :D so I have to dive in the suspension settings but I was wondering if the seat is interchangeable with the one of the V2? Apparently that one is way more comfortable.

  2. It's not the same seat, the 959 has a screw at the front I believe and the V2 doesn't. I think you could get it to work, but I'd probably get the touring seat for the 959 assuming they still do one? Might have a pic somewhere to show you the difference

  3. This is my V2. You can see it's a tab where the seat slips in and the 2 screws at the back of the seat so unless those 2 screws are in the right place and you can get the front to fit somehow, it might be too much hassle

  4. Thanks Jamie! I will have a look how the seat is mounted, thanks for the pic!

  5. It won’t fit - that aspect of the bikes is very different, even though lot’s of the underlying parts are shared this isn’t one of them.

  6. Ok, thanks. I will have a look at some different options then.

  7. Just get a local upholstery company to re-upholster the seat and put a gel insert in it too. It’ll be cheaper too than getting a “comfort” seat

  8. For road riding the suspension needs some softening and you might struggle to get a really compliant ride out of the rear shock. That might be more your issue than the seat.

Lot’s of people replace the shock or get it reworked.

  9. I’ve got the Öhlins ttx at the back so replacing is not an option. Should be possible to get it working for me and I’ve got an Öhlins specialist nearby and maybe he can help me out with some personal preferences. I’ve been there before to get an spring matching my weight together with some basic settings which made good difference. Maybe he can help me out with this one too.

The comfort seat is about EUR 200,- it would surprise me if reupholstering is (much) cheaper but I will have a look around.
