good evening chums, as mentioned in an earlier thread, I'm going to this race. got cheap flights and ( not so cheap) tickets for the weekend. getting there Thurs leaving the following Thurs. fly into Castellon and I guess will get train into valencia ant the to track. Camping for four nights. Due to luggage allowance will have to buy tent and sleeping stuff out there. where from? thinking we'll set up camp late arvo then maybe head in to Cheste for a few sherbets. any advice on where to go and what to expect? during the weekend is it possible to take ya own booze in to the track? we then have 3 more nights after the event where we thought we would get a cheap hotel in Valencia. I'd imagine there will be plenty available after the Sunday but best to book online in advance to save money? can anyone recommend a good one and where to hang out in the city? I will still be on crutches but should have a walking boot on as I'm back to hospital the day before we fly. Like to keep walking to a min but know it's not gunna happen, even the seats are over a mile ( by my calcs) from the camp site! Anyhu, any advice and help gratefully received
Get on booking.com Hotel sweet continental. 2night for 129 inc breakfast. Stayed there loads of times right in centre nr stn. Only 1 room left.
cheers mate, hoping for some thing a bit cheaper! Seen a few for 80-100 for the 3 nights online. Just don't know whether to book or look when we are there
No fraid not mate. Love Valencia, very spanish. Been to fiesta las fallas a few times too(spring festival google it) Biggest street party in europe.
sounds good! Would the center near the station be the best place to be based hotel and entertainment wise?
Yes. Theres pedestrian streets opposite bull ring/station and main square with cheap hotels above shops.
There big chain department stores El Corte Ingles that sell everything so probably sell camping stuff. The main one is on inner ring road, 2/3 blocks behind main post office (correos) off Placa de l'Ajuntament(main square). Probably wont get any bargains there tho.
homestay.com £13 a night incl brekkie we're paying i'll be down there with a 675er if you fancy meeting up at all
had a look on homestay found a few for 20-40 ish but just thought after camping a cheap hotel might be relaxing. Yes mate keen to meet up for sure. I'm guessing my phn will work out there pm me ya number if you like. How long you guys in town?
I've been fortunate enough to go a few times. I had trouble getting an item of camera gear into the track, so booze will be a definite no-no. The train service from Valencia to the track is OK, the trains aren't uber frequent and VERY busy on race day. The train doesn't depart from the mainline station but from Sant Isidre, a small place in the suburbs accessible via the metro. I reckon your camping gear could be an issue unless you know exactly where to go (I haven't a clue) and I don't see you getting any great deals in the city. I would recommend getting it in the UK and taking the excess luggage hit.
Last time we flew in 07 there was a train to trackside from main station. Local single line rattler from a small platform on right furthest from ticket office. Get a warm sleeping bag it gets cold at night. Think the trains ran through the night.
well just got what looks to be a lovely "executive" apartment in central Valencia. On trivago it was £160 for the 3 nights, I googled it, spoke to the owner and done a deal at €150 so saved about 15 quid.. All good €25 a head per night for the 2 of us. Sleeps 4 as well (2 bedroom with a sofa bed in the lounge) so if anyone on here needs a bed for a night or 2 you'd be welcome.
there are lots of chinese shops in spain,, sell everything....re camping,, bear in mind where the sun rises, it can be very cold overnight so sun in the morn can be a blessing..
that is sound advice re location of tent unfortunately, given im still on crutches I'm gunna have to try and get a spot as close to the track as poss but will bear in mind what you're saying for sure..
We camped in small camp near entrance. Didnt know about main one in town next stop up. 100 or so tents, small bar and portable loos, no one asked us for any money either. The testing on tues/wed should be public and might be free or €15 maybe on gate. Not been To MGP test but at wsb they let you wander paddock and pitlane as long as noone a nuisance. Stricter for mgp tho obvs.
wonder how its going,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, just saying,, if you have any time after sundays race if you could take a wee rummage round the bins at the back of the pits see if you can pick me up a pair of those discarded little aero winglett thingys,,,,, dont wish to be choosey but not the Ducati ones , they are just a lil too big,, maybe Crashys ones, or Brads,, ta in advance..
