valve check

  1. iv reached the massive 7500 miles on my 07 1098s and service/work on it myself when possible. however now according to my ducati schedule im now due the valve clearance check, has anyone had this done and have your valves needed adjusting. the only bike I have required this on was my old sp1 and everything was fine.is this something any bike dealer can carry out?

  2. I've done a few at 7500, although most of the time it's been inspection only. You don't know til they're measured tbh. Checking is easy, adjustment needs a few tools and a shim kit or measure what you need and buy the shims in.

  3. Just had my 1098R checked at Italia Moto (Lincoln). All within tolerance and no adjustment required. And thats after 7000 (mostly caned) miles. I doubt It'll require re shimming but you never know.

Dunno about any dealer. It may require specific tooling. With my bike I look after all the framework and consumables myself but I leave the engine stuff to cleverer people than me. I don't have the tooling or knowledge.... And its still under factory war
