Im toying with selling the Hyper at the moment (ive got a ktm 525 which fills the motard void) and while ive got my rsv4 I was thinking of filling the gap with a super naked....Streetfighter etc etc....but, the hyper is so much fun I thought id research making it more "funner".... so, as above, is there anywhere in the uk you can buy a set of K&N or foam type airfilters and stacks (I presume the stack bit is the collar that bolts onto the throttle body) - it seems that the only place is the US (and I don't want a big tax bill - I always without doubt get caught for everything going). And also Aus (Wasp works) which are absolutely way over the top in price.... There must be somewhere or some sort of generic filter I can buy here which fits and then after that its just the collar's that I need. However I do realize that the airbox does double up as mounting points for various bits and pieces....This is what I found in the us.... CORSE DYNAMICS High Performance Intake Kit Seems hard to swallow that a couple of generic airfiters and a could of bits of milled metal will cost close to 300 quid (once tax, vat and delivery charges have been added) On my old hyper (before anyone says) I did have an mwc air filter fitted (came with it on there) but it was a monumental pain in the arse to remove and clean, id prefer K&N's or foam filters as they can be removed and cleaned easily... Or, if someone has some second hand stuff that would be good.
I will confess and say that the corse kit that the yanks sell is very complete - ( I can only gather that lots of bits around the airbox anchor on to it) - I don't mind buying it if theres no alternative and it is a tidy job but there must be someone selling that kind of kit over here?
I've been having a Google and it seems pipercross only do that type for 748/916 engines. I don't think it will fit 2v throttle bodies but don't quote me on that. Its about £50 and fits over the stock trumpets.
Cheers - that's something that ive always wondered....you buy the airfilters...yes, got that, but then why do you need those collars to go inbetween? my old gsxr 7/11 had slingshot carbs and the filters just bolted straight on....am I missing something?
