1200 DVT Vertical Exhaust Snapped

  1. Anybody know what could have caused my vertical exhaust to have broken
Been on from new done 34k and been remapped by CJS about 10k miles ago. Not saying that is the cause but a freind said it could be getting too hot. I personally would have thought that it would get extremely hot and should be up to high temps
It looks like its gone just infront of the weld.
Glad it when today and not on my Euro tour in 6 weeks

  2. Had a customers bike fail in the same way a couple of years back. Don’t have a reason for you, but we found that there had been a lot of damage done by the heat to the wiring loom, under tray and shock iirc. Wort having a dig around and inspecting before your trip.

  3. Thanks Nelly always value your opinion and suggestions. Definitely some heat under the battery compartment and will give it a good look over when putting back together but on removal all looked OK. Ordered a 2nd hand 1 off Ebay and the weld looks alot better than on mine so hopefully just down to poor workmanship and over the years and miles that has lead to the failure
Pic of the 2nd hand pipe, bit dirty but ill clean it up

  4. I think the later header was improved by moving the weld away from the mounting plate? Panigale had a similar updated design
