Viessmann Boiler Question

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by AirCon, Oct 8, 2019.

  1. Any Viessmann experts on here....?

I'm having trouble getting an answer on this.

    Vitodens 35kW 100-W system boilers
I've two of these, one as a primary and the other as a back up, both identical.
One will be plumbed in and the other hung on the wall near by as a back up.
They may be plumbed in later to alternate one for a week and then switch to the other for a week.
    Each has their own flue.

How close together can they be installed?
    50mm gap? 150mm gap?
1500mm clear space above, 1500mm clear space below.
    Dedicated plant room (ventilated), unoccupied.
Note they would NEVER be run together, but I don't want to get this wrong.
Once they are plumbed in as alternates I don't want to have to get them moved.

    Cheers for any advice.

  2. Why would you have two , they are extremely reliable , I had a buderus , same sort of quality, 65 kw I believe, a monster, running 23 rads in the house and hot water, those things are indestructible, cast , floor mounted

  3. I've already had the newest Viessman fail, twice!!
My boiler was probably one of the first off the production line (for my model).

The first time the internal water pump (Grunfloss) failed, with the back disk being "blown out".
That was after 3 days. Replaced under warranty, an accepted and well known problem a few months down the line. Worked fine ever since.
18 months later they went all around the houses to deny my diagnosis and wiggle out of the warranty. I told them it was the circuit board and they said it was 3 or 4 other things.
I purchased a second identical boiler and swapped the board. It worked.
I got them out and they agreed / replaced the faulty board.
I now have two good boilers, which I want to usefully employ.

We've 4 under floor heating circuits and some 20 odd radiators on the ground floor, with 10 more on the first floor, even so we only NEED one.....

My wife is a forgiving creature, however when cold she gets VERY cranky.
For that reason alone I require a reliable heating system.

  6. When it's finished... I'll take a photo and post here.
You'll be surprised as to how similar it is to this.... motorised valves are smaller.
We've on pipe thermometers, 1/4 turn isolation everywhere, filter points etc....

  7. I'm going to have to get my glasses prescription renewed. I thought that said "Vietnam Boiler Question".

I thought "Whatever the question, it serves you right for buying a boiler from Vietnam", then the 2nd thought was that it may be about a lady boy. o_O

At this point, I read the title again and all is well in the world once more. :)

Oh, I don't know anything about your boiler though. :(

  12. Just buy a more reliable unit? must be cheaper and less complicated than trying to get 2 unreliable units to run?

  13. Answer......They can touch, but if the flues go out horizontally then the flues must be 300mm apart.

  14. When you move, get a Vaillant.
I’ve always found them reliable and fit them to all my redevelopments.

Sorry l can’t help with the Vietnamese Viessmann.
