Virgin Media Grrrr......

  1. After several months without using my PC owing to work on the house, I decided to unbox it and set it up again. "this seems slow" thinks I, I shall run a speedtest. Now, I have been with Virgin for 16 years and yes I have had issues in the past, throttling back mostly. I often receive flyers telling me how fantastic virgin fibre is and I am paying for 50mb. Speedtest tells me 13mbps. I try again the day after, 12mbps. I ring VM and after pressing umpteen options I get through to a human. I have been here before so am ready for the usual bull. The guy checks the line and tells me yeah, you have a problem and it will probably be the end of May before it is resolved. What? they actually coughed it straight away! So, say's I, I assume I will be getting a refund? Yes, says he, I will refund you £7.50 this month but you will have to ring us each month to get you're £7.50 refund. Unbelievable, they are not providing what I am paying for yet its up to me to chase them for a paltry refund. I am paying £74.00 a month for virgin tv xl, 50mbs fibre (not) and a landline, £7.50 seems a bit paltry. I asked the customer services operative if I should look elsewhere for my broadband and he basically agreed!
I can get a similar sky package for under £40 a month for the first 12 months and I am tempted. The only thing I would miss is the Moto GP on BT sport. I hear you can add this channel to Sky, anyone already doing this?

  2. Forgot to add, after the phone call to VM, my mobile dropped the wifi signal. Strange, never done that before. Entered the passwords and it came back up. I then checked speedtest again and it has now dropped to 6mbps. I cannot help but think they have choked it back further now as they are refunding me.

  3. I phoned them last week to complain the TV Anywhere never seems to work on a big sports event. Big premier league match, boxing, etc. He said it was an issue with my broadband. I said it happens at my mates house who has sky broadband so how is it my virgin broadband? He didn't have an answer apart from apparently nobody else has an issue.

Thing is, the broadband is VERY stable and I work from home so vital for me so I'm scared to change in case I get something less stable.

If you go to BT the sport is free.

  4. Don't think BT sport is free anymore if you are a BT broadband customer (it used to be) as I had to pay to get it on sky and then pay again to get the hd version.

  5. I think it's free with phone, broadband, TV deal. Not 200%. Not sure how "free" that would make it anyway.

  6. You have to pay for BT sport
    It was free

  7. I have just renewed mine at they wanted to charge £5 a month I said no thanks they wouldn't include it

  8. Must be new customers only, or some such bolx.

  9. We are on Plusnet standard internet which is a paltry 7mbs but only costs £18 a month.

TV is either free view via the Xbox One or we have an Amazon Fire Stick with Kodi so all tv is free ;)

  10. I'm with Sky that's probably why
    Got BT broadband

  11. That will do it, you need the lot I think

  12. Loads of online sources to watch mgp if you dont want to upgrade sky. Had virgin for years, never again, worst service ever

  13. Looking like Sky at the moment. I checked out BT but it works out more expensive like for like. I have an MXQ box with Kodi installed but I don't know where I would find the live Moto gp on it, anyone?
My Virgin broadband has now dropped to 3MBPS and to be honest it feels like a piss take now. My bill has gone up to £77 a month now and they offer me a paltry £7.50 back which I have to chase them for.
    Good Heavens Above.

  14. I checked my speed recently and it was just over 11 mbs and I am on a non fibre package, which is fast enough for what I need it for. I would never go back to BT after having so many problems with them and have always found them very helpful in the past as far as customer service is concerned.

I have only had need to complain once when one individual was totally unhelpful and disinterested but that turned out to be a fault with Windows 10 after the first upgrade to it, I found the answer to that problem on the Sky users forum!
