just installed a DUC-EE on my 1260s. watched this YT video ... very informative, except for how the damned rubber holder that secures the two connectors that are just enough in the way, that you cannot get the exhaust valve servo connector. anyway, after 20 minutes of the appropriate swearing, the DUC-EE got installed, the exhaust valve servo motor connector taped over to prevent dirt/water from entering, and viola ... a throttle valve that stays fully open, and no error message. bravo to vizi-tec
Would you not want to remove the servo motor completely ? I did on my Monster 1100, I’ve now got space under the seat to put a disk lock A good bit of kit the Duc-EE and a good company to deal with
the servo motor on the Multi 1260s (and also on my 2010 1200s Multi) are not in the under the seat compartment, so really nothing to gain from removing it space-wise. and as i want to be able to go back to the servo motor controlling the exhaust flapper if i ever need to, i decided to keep it all installed. agree that vizi-tec is a good group ... i've known Bernard (the founder/owner) for a long time now, as we both owned MH900evoluziones and first-gen Hypermotards ... and he used to live here in the SF Bay Area.
Some new information passed my way that may change some points of view. We always believed that the exhaust flap closes between aprox 3500~6000 rpm. I've even tested this for confirmation myself. However, I've tested this while in neutral. New information, albeit un-confirmed, has it that the exhaust valve remains open while in gear regardless of rpm. This would make having the Duc-ee obsolete for performance and sound and only useful to prevent exhaust valve seizure due to corrosion.
On the DVT's the entire bike is built around the exhaust flap servo motor. Just for laughs y'understand!
I installed the Duc-EE from my DVT onto my 1260 but had to take it off again as it kept throwing up engine light fault errors. Can't see why it would be different but perhaps I need a new one?
the exhaust flapper's single purpose is to assist the bike passing Euro noise emission testing. i have that on information directly from two friends at Ducati in product engineering.
not sure why your 1260 would be throwing errors. I suggest you send Bernard (the founder/owner of Vizi-Tec) an email to have him assist in sorting this out. [email protected]
that theory would be easy enough to confirm by putting the multi up on its center stand, placing the bike in gear, and releasing the clutch (just in case the ECU takes the clutch position into account).
Thanks John - I got a very quick response, my unit has the firmware number FW: 2.13 and apparently this does not work for the 1260 so I will need to order a new version.
A confirmation of a valve movement (or not) while in gear would be easy enough to confirm with someone with a stock bike.
