Wanted - 1199 Pani - Rear & Front Wheel Nut Socket

  1. Looking to remove wheels ready for new rubber so need the socket that can be used for both front and rear nuts.

    If anyone has a spare lying around, give me a shout.

    Any recommendations re torque wrenches? No more than £30.00 ideally... Yes, I'm cheap but the Mrs wants a new house!

  2. I suggest a search on the Web for sockets. Rear is 55mm bihex I believe (if same as 1098).
    I doubt you'll get a torque wrench for 30 quid as it needs to go above 200Nm.

  3. Beware some if the sockets on eBay they can be quite soft, also the rear nut can be near impossible to shift, had big problems, even with a tyre professional

  4. Yep... It ends up being quite a chunk of money to get a front stand, 240nm Torque wrench, and the socket for both front and rear wheels. If I go the cheapest route all three items will cost around £110. Buy decent gear and it's up around £250!

  5. I found a combined socket, front and rear, it's a bit soft but works, I had all the other bits plus a 240nm scaffold pole, used a metal fence post in Phillip Island, the tyre mechanic couldn't shift the nut with a torque wrench, despite it having been removed prior to shipping

  8. Go for impact ones, about £25, and a cheap rattle gun to get it off. Lidl one I bought was about £25 and gets everything off easily.

    Torque wrench, well not long ago people just tightened it ‘til it’s right’! Good luck over tightening! IMHO it’s more important on lesser bolts that can easily be overnighted than the rear wheels. Line up the circle and sorted (ime)

  11. I got one of the laser sockets, decent, wouldn't have needed it if I could remember where I put the other one for safe keeping

  12. Ordered last night as said above, turned up today about 2pm. £23.30 delivered. Bargain :upyeah:
