I sure did Al. For practical and house move reasons, she had to go .... to France in fact!! Starting to get withdrawal symptoms now. Hence the post!! BTW Don't tell anyone I'm now a Volvo driver!!
What? Ducbird had to go?.......That's a shame.......... I know what you mean about withdrawal symptoms though........I still get them.......... I think it had something to with her being a Catholic (I heard....)
Yes he sold me to the French I'm just too expensive to run :-D I understand needing another though I can forgive you there is something about an SS. Good luck on your search
If you do manage to find a decent one hang in to it, 9 were taxed and in regular use in 2012. In 2013 that number has dropped to 4 (mine is one of them) obviously some are languishing at the back of garages on SORN, but lots have been taken off the road and converted to DD racers, but I fear many have been written off, scrapped or broken up for spares.
The story as follows ..... She went up on Ebay and was snapped up straight away with full asking price from a chap in France, no questions asked. He then expected me to deliver of course!! 'Here we go' I thought. Anyway, to cut a long story short, said chap drove to Le'Harve and got the overnight ferry to Portsmouth. He then got the train from Portsmouth to Liskeard. At this point I realised he had no mobile phone as I kept getting mobile updates from fellow passengers!! I drove to Liskeard to collect said French chap and sure enough, a lonely looking man was stood at the station with a crash helmet in his hands looking rather lost!! I then drove him to my place of work during which we had conversations on his family and the war. He handed me over the cash, made rather random calls to France to arrange insurance and off he went!!! Job done. I got an email from him 2 days later to say he'd arrived home safely albeit minus the exhaust which fell off somewhere in Dorset and smashed fairing caused the bike not being secured during the ferry crossing. Surreal to say the least!!!!!
And as we know them inside out, when they do break, we can fix em!! Always said that if it wasn't for the internet then running these beasts would be a different kettle of fish
