R1 left today, can't say i miss it. I did miss a 900ss with all the trick bits fitted (fcr's etc) but had a busted crankcase (chain snap)
I am currently mid resto on one, but it'll be about a month before I get it sorted. You can have first refusal if you can wait................
Yeah buy it, I could do with a project for next summer, and you could do a bit of work on it before selling it to me to finish!
OK I bought it spares or repair from a local (non franchised) dealer about two months ago. Three broken head studs (the old stainless ones), no coils, no clutch slave cyl, belts needed, oil, filter, air filters, carbs gunked up (but intact), no battery, brakes needing freeing off, you get the picture. It's currently engine part stripped to get the studs out (done) and frame on the deck. Apart from the studs nothing is broken and everything came apart OK. It had been taken in (by dealer) as part ex (they made a fortune on the guys purchase of a branny Yam R1) and they shuffled it around their workshop for several years before I located it. It's in overall great condition only done 20k miles. Nice looker, all original parts (pair of D&D American cans as well). Red front wheel, black rear makes an interesting and not disagreeable image. 1993, V5 in my name. I have the complete pile of spares that came off it, engine will be assembled with new studs, belts, valve clearances measured and set, new oil, filter, plugs, carbs etc and run (by a reliable and well known Ducati Independent, none better) before I sell it. That's only fair I think. I have no real idea (well, some ) of what to sell it for as it stands but it'll be a proper build, spec and ride when I complete it. Currently at home and pics are on PC at work but I can grab them and post later. I have just completed a similar resto and it looked great and I sold that no issues.
l had one of those v good once you lob the weber carb put a set of showa upside downies on it bin the digiplex ignitiona and bin the marzochi shock Steve better looking than the later one tho
Sorry! never liked the early model. but it looks like it's been sorted out, i see Dellorto 40's in one pic ?
Acquire a rat Guzzi LeMans (that means shite, but complete) and I'll swap you anytime........and I'll include all the spares. AL
Actually remove the "1" and you get the more appropriate value. Who can say that frame/subframe isn't bent, fork leg not skewed, etc.
Looking at the lack of real damage on the fairings etc for it to be Cat C its hit a curb hard looking at dent in the silencer.
