I’ve messed up my heated twist grip. It was fully working but I attempted to change the handlebar, took the whole thing apart broke a small magnet that sits inside. So if you’ve removed a non working heated grip let me know please.
I can't imagine why heated grips might need a magnet inside .... .... but on the other hand , I was a product of state education , during the Thatcher era !
The heated grips don’t utilise the magnet, the twist grip throttle does. The standard heated grips have worked fine for me and I’d prefer to operate them from the existing switch. My heated grips still work, it’s just the magnet that I need, which most likely is working fine in a grip where the heated element has failed. Hence my request.
As of 16.15 hrs, after having looked where I thought they would be, I have to say I can’t find the bleedin’ things.. If I find them I’ll pm you.. Sorry if I got your hopes up..
I have a fairly new throttle twist grip (non heated) which was fitted to to my 1260 (or maybe 1200DVT). I bought heated grips as an accessory and had them fitted by the dealer. I had some vague idea of swapping them back when I sold the bike and selling the heated set but I probably wouldn’t bother. Let me know if they would do the trick if you wanted to dismantle them.
I don’t know, maybe the magnet is the same but you never know until you take it apart. Normally I’m a positive person but somehow I doubt it.
