Am in the process of purchasing a new MTS PP. However, the Ducati Co. policy of not offering factory warranties past 3 years is always something to think about, especially if you tend to like to hang on to your bikes for up to 5 years or so. I know companies are always coming into the marketplace to offer various warranty extension products ? What kind of solutions are you folks using ? (assuming you're running 3+ year old MTSs).
cant be of much help here other than check the small print. and make sure your workshop will deal with the warranty company in question
Many owners here keeping their Mutli's beyond the three year term for the Ducati warranty are using companies like Warranty Direct, which usually ends up costing circa £325 thereabouts for a years pretty general cover, which does have the usual 'small-print' limitations. E.g. no more than two claims per year, £2k maximum per claim, things like that. They will often, with new customers offer free MOT and now also provide European breakdown cover as well, at least that is, provided you clarify that at purchase time, as I have found out to my annoyance, something they did, to be fair to the company, rectify retrospectively.:Bawling:
AutoProtect | Motorcycle Mechanical Breakdown Insurance They should be able to cover you and is the same company that Ducati use anyway... Euro cover as standard
I bought my S/H MTS which had the 3 year warranty option, however my dealer told me that when this runs out (Nov14) they would add an extra years warranty (at my cost) under the Ducati used bike deal so touch wood I will have another 12 months (made sure I got the offer in writing)
Great responses... quite a few options by the look of it. I wonder why Ducati don't offer "rolling renewal", as BMW do. I can imagine some "negative responses" to this one, but to keep it positive, Ducati employ smart people so there must be a logical business reason.
They have made some bad decisions on OEM items. I intend putting a letter with the main culprits detailed to the sales director in the UK at some point o.
