Just got back from a long weekend in Wales with Mrs GH. Stayed near Tenby (nice town) but took the opportunity to travel back to Leics via Breacon Beacons/Builth Wells/Welshpool/Shrewsbury and avoid the drag up the M5. Was in Mrs GH's MX5, rather than the bike. Stunning drive with pretty well blue skies all the way back (yesterday). Must say that I'm impressed with the quality of Welsh roads - smooth tarmac, very few potholes - far better quality than on the English side of the border! Whats going on?
Great roads, a Pani owning mate lives on the south west side of Brecon off the a4069 that all the car mags use for testing. Best driveway ever
Not the south ones I was usng them on athe long route to Oulton from here, rude not to given I'm half hr or so from the border
Be careful down here on the weekends, especially on a sunny day, as what we lack in traffic is more than made up for by the presence of traffic police, especially around Llandovery area.
Useful to know - saw an unmarked car near Brecon (black 3 series) - I was driving, rather than riding, helps to moderate the speeds, although 60-65 in a car on the A438 north of Builth Wells is fast enough for me....... I'm still shocked at how well surfaced the roads were......I feel an excuse to tour on the bike brewing...
Had a week in Wales this year on the bike. Rain cut things short so I'm back again next June. Missed out on an early morning circuit of Anglesey. I intend to put that right next year. Accommodation already booked and paid for. Wales is biking heaven. Love the place.
