Hi- I am looking at a 2001 996S, and am wondering what 996S owners have found inside their engines. I have heard that the 996S comes with T1 cams from the SPS, and that some have titanium rods. I'm looking specifically for owner experiences, since it seems as though there is a lot of information floating around on the internet. Has anyone found A1 cams or steel rods in their 996S ? Thanks !
sorry @crowned for not answering seriously, it's what we do on here, no harm meant - hopefully you'll get a serious reply soon. I've never found anything exotic in my 996 bikes, only worn rockers. Re: "not serious/off topic" - I found out that a doormouse had hibernated in my Elefant airbox one year, luckily no damage, with one long air feed snorkel in and one out, it was designed for him!
Welcome to the Forum This thread should help https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/difference-between-base-and-s-996.78324/#post-1646392 although you’ll have to research the engine internals of the SPS to directly answer your question.
Mouse in the airbox was an old Dakar trick. Cagiva mechanics figured out that if you spook an Elefant it might grumble along with slightly more enthusiasm.
He’d have clean feet/paws on account of mice urinate constantly, so every where they go they’ve pissed.......
