What Does This Exhaust Wording Mean

  1. Hi Guys, found some end cans i like and noticed there were 3 choices, one was race, the other 2 were,,,,, HOM: e9 (sound) approved with dbkiller/baffle and homologation certificate,,,,, and,,,,,,,
KAT: e9 (sound) and e5(gas exhaust) approved with dbkiller/baffle, kat converter and double homologation certificates,,,,,,. in real layman terms what the difference between them is it like a de-cat on a car exhaust cheers

  2. Race is just that. Straight through, no baffle and not compliant with EU/BS noise regs. HOM: E9 complies with noise regs, but only with the baffle in place. KAT E9&E5 complies with noise regs and is fitted with a catalytic converter to comply with noise and emissions.
If your name is any indication of your bike "900SS96" then the emissions regs don't have any bearing really. Noise comes down to your MOT tester and how friendly the local constabulary are.

  3. Hi Nelly and thanks for your great answer, did have a 9ooss now i have the superbike 848. so i think i would be better off with the HOM version for engine flow and keep my end cans i have now for mot day,
