Hi! I need to replace my gearbox due to second gear being busted, so i was wondering, what gearboxes fits the Monster 620 -05 case? I have the 5 speed atm, but wanting to upgrade to 6 speed. Cheers! //Richard
Might be cheaper to buy a whole engine/gearbox assembly and just fit that, maybe even a chance to upgrade to an 800 unit, I think if you get the same model type would be relatively easy, I think the wiring is the same/similar, just need the ECU to suit the new engine
Do you have a wet clutch? If so, it may well be that a six speed cluster won't fit. With the earlier carbies, at least, the wet clutch engines were very different to the dry clutch versions.
Thanks for replies and sorry for late reply. Tons of work last weeks :S So anyway! If im getting an entire new engine, id probbably get something "newish" like 696 (think they will work in the frame), depending on my finanshial status. The things i'd have to get then is a engine (with all sensors etc), wireloom, ecu (and ecu flash) and dashbord. So its more work than just getting a gearbox. My clutch is indeed wet. Is the 800ss engine same design as the M620? Might work then. Apparently ducati released a performance gearbox for the m620 that was 6 speed. Havent found any tho. Thnks for the replies!
It wasnt a 'performance' mod, it was just the later model 620's. I wouldn't be surprised if almost any 5 speed air cooled one would fit.
I think externally the 620 and 800 engine are the same, so apart from the ECU I think it would be a straight swap, go to the BikeBoy.org website there is probably info on there.
