What Throttle Is This?

  1. I have this twin cable quick action throttle on my 749R.

I want to remove the throttle tube but can’t work out how to do it without disconnecting the cables at the throttle bodies...which I am loath to do as it’s a hassle.

Unlike normal throttles, this one does not split in half so it can be removed from the handlebar.
It is a solid billet that slides onto the bar in one piece and is held in place with 3 tiny grub screws at 120deg spacing.
The throttle tube flange is held in place by a separate plate which is installed before the grip is put on the tube and then all this is attached with 6 small countersunk screws into the plate.
I took it apart a bit just now but it is not possible to disconnect the cables.

Anybody else have one of these or know who made it - I have looked on t’internet and cannot find anything that looks like it. It may be a JHP Racing part possibly.

  2. Looks like a venhill throttle to me mate

  3. No, the Venhill ones I can see on Google have two larger cap head Allen bolts “inboard” of the throttle assembly that appear to clamp the assembly to the bar.

  4. Will slackening the cable adjusters (covered by the rubber sleeve)give enough play?

  5. Maybe. I’ll give that a whirl (twirl).

  6. That looks a lot like an active throttle!
