Many of you know I have converted my Strada to pay homage to the 888 SP5. Final addition will be the single rear seat, now I have the rear subframe from a SPO, and I also have one of these reproduction SP5 top yoke plates. Now the question is, what number/letter combo do I get engraved on it? It has to be 3 character only and I have thought of the following: - - CON - As it is a fake, but a bit derogatory. - NOD - As it is a tribute - 888 - As the numbers never went that high and anyone in the know wouldn't be fooled - CAB - As it is mine and they are my initials. Any votes, or other ideas and I will add them to the list.
I could always claim it reads No.8 and keep it as a Ducati Forum dirty little secret! Now added to the list....
I wouldn't put it on there, it's not a SP so it doesn't need a plaque. As FE has posted drill a hole in it and use it as a key fobe. Steve R
It already has 2 holes, so not sure i need another! I am on the fence Steve, but also have a cunning plan for it not to require drilling holes in the top yoke so I can plaque, or not plaque as the mood takes me.
Amongst my collection of 851/888 spares, I've got 2 top yokes that are/were originally drilled for the plaques... Despite this I'd never consider fitting my 851/955 with a plaque, it might be better/waaaay more than any SP or SPS but it's still only a tweaked 851 and I wouldn't claim it to be anything different.
