I'm sad - I have to sell my Monster R It's a 66 plate. I bought it from a Ducati dealer when it was only 800 miles and now it's only 6000 miles. It's only ever been serviced at the official ducati dealer I bought it from. It's in great condition and has twin carbon termi's. I have the original unused exhaust too. The only mods are bar end mirrors and adjustable levers. It's red of course. I'm struggling to work out what it's worth! I don't see any others for sale. Anyone know?
10 grand? Hmmm ok, since it's you See you at 9! Bring the cash. A dealer offered me 8.8, if it's mint in his eyes, for a trade in so I figure it's worth a grand more but honestly I have NO idea and am really confused. If I could afford to have two bikes, I'd never ever sell it. Love it and it makes me smile every time I walk up to it.
Maybe have a look on eBay at completed sales. There won’t be many for that sort of bike but might help a bit. Market at the moment is totally flat it seems so the trade in might actually be an ok offer but needs checking first.
i'm in a similar position, and from what I've gleaned in the past six months, depending on the condition of your bike, 8.8 isn't a bad dealer offer to be honest. I do think you would struggle to get 9.8 but don't let me put you off.
The 'value' to him might be more in what you're buying, 8.8 might be more than he would offer for a lesser bike you would be purchasing. He hasn't the attachment to the bike in the same way as you it's just a transaction to him. He's also taking the hassle of you selling it or not, if you can't proceed until you have sold on your bike he's at the mercy of what you'll take for it selling privately assuming you can find one who hasn't typed in your reg into webuyanything.com and decided that's all he's willing to pay too. If a dealer has a bike I'd like I usually favour taking the perceived hit as I did with my KTM against a Ducati. It was £500 less than I wanted but I really wanted a Scrambler in the model he had. Someone else may just have the cash burning a hole in his mattress and just buy the bike from under you?
You could also try Webuyany bike to see if they better the dealer offer (stranger things have happened at sea!) . When I tried them they were 2k under what the dealer offered as trade on my V4S mutley. Though that offer is often dependant on what your buying off them and if nowt then expect it to be bare bones trade valuations ,or less if they dont have a buyer lined up etc blah.
@Chris To be honest, I'd take the 8.8 just to not have to deal with random people rocking up. I'm just worried that I will get there and he will say "oh that's not mint" Only one way to find out I suppose. I'll get up there on Saturday. @Macca hadn't thought of webuyany - will take a look. @DucatiScud it's a new bike so even if they one they have goes I will be able to get another. @TBay great idea!!! Will do that.
totally agree with the ball-ache avoidance of dealing with "people" - i feel sad to say it, but i find it really stressful now and so very relieved to stumble on an "old school"* type of buyer. Hard to value this*, but probably worth £500 to a grand.. Depending how far away the dealer is, i would definitely ride it there to see what they think, maybe get a professional valet on it first or give it a deep clean yourself.
We buy any bike offered me just over 6 for mine. Superbike factory offered £5370 It’s done 2000 miles ffs.
Holy shit. I think i had better lower my expectations. The dealer is 2 hours away. Might go up there on Saturday.
What New Bike are you getting? I just bought a New V4S - 2025 - Stock Model and Got £2300 off list and bare bones for my PX - more or less the same as We Buy Any quoted.. (there is a few) So also remember you can push New down lower too..
